A native of Eastern Idaho, Dr. Derek Calaway grew up farming in Terreton alongside his family. Not wanting to leave the Snake River Valley he chose to attend BYU-Idaho where he received his degree in Exercise Physiology. At the completion of his Bachelor's degree, Dr. Calaway, his wife, and their 2 children set out for the Bay Area of California where he graduated with top honors - Summa Cum Laude. Dr. Calaway currently resides in Rigby where he, his wife, and their now 5 kids have planted their roots.

During his time in school, he became fascinated with the different body systems and how they are all interconnected. From this fascination he chose to specialize in a non-surgical approach to fix biomechanical dysfunctions called Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP).

Trained by doctors from professions such as: physical therapy, traditional medicine, and sports medicine, Dr Calaway has taken the best from each discipline in order to better serve his patients. He firmly believes that no single profession has all of the answers, including his own.

Having competed in sports throughout most of his life, Dr. Calaway gained an appreciation early on for how the body works. After receiving chiropractic care for both rehabilitation and sports performance, he decided he also wanted to give to those interested in taking care of their body.

His greatest desire is to serve those in his community by providing people with a higher quality of life. Much of his motivation to help others comes from the quote, "Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured."
